When Anna Wintour was asked what she’d never ever wear, she answered “head to toe black”. And if one does not trust Anna’s style, then one has a major problem. The all black outfit might reflect negatively, usually worn to funerals, it naturally gives a sad impression to whom ever is wearing it. Nevertheless, one cannot ignore that black is the classiest color, and it fills more than 30% of our wardrobes. The main issue with black is when people use it as the only basic color; ignoring the neutrals and the contrast, leading them to poorly styling their outfits. One way to avoid such a problem, is to use black as a base color only when you want to draw the attention to something else in your outfit. That might be a colored jacket, a statement necklace, or any other dramatic item. My number one rule is to wear only one dramatic item per outfit, and mix that with neutral colors such as black, white, beige, or grey. It is very fun to play with colors, a simple scarf and a special shade of lipstick or nail polish can make a huge difference.
